Locking Castle Medical Centre

Your Accessible Healthcare Facility in Weston-super-Mare

Our Practice

Locking Castle Medical Centre provides comprehensive medical care in a modern, accessible facility. We are committed to serving all patients, including those with disabilities, the elderly, and parents with young children.

From October 1, 2025, GP practices in England are required by their new contract to keep their online consultation tools open and available for routine, non-urgent patient requests during core hours (8:00 AM to 6:30 PM), five days a week. This aims to improve patient access by allowing them to submit requests for appointments, medication queries, and administrative issues digitally at any time during these hours, rather than facing the "8am rush

Parking

There is ample Car Parking for patients in the adjoining retail car parks, which are a very short walk from the Medical Centre.  There is no on site parking for patients, except disabled car parking spaces.

Appointments

We now use the online platform Accurx. You can request an appointment by clicking on the link on the home page - Request Appointment

Your request will be reviewed by a clinician who will then make contact with you as appropriate - which may take up to two working days. Please note, requests received after 4pm may not be dealt with until the next working day.

Patients may ask to see a specific doctor within the practice, i.e. they are not restricted to seeing the doctor that they are registered with. However, patients should appreciate that if they require an urgent appointment, it may not always be possible to see their preferred choice.

Please avoid phoning about non-urgent issues between 8.00am and 10.30 am as this is our busiest time.

Out-of-hours cover is provided by NHS 111 (between 6.30 pm and 8.00 am weekdays and from 6.30 pm Friday to 8.00 am Monday). To contact the Out-of-Hours Service, please telephone 111. Calls to the NHS 111 service are free from both landline and mobile phones. Please note that this service is for urgent medical problems ONLY that cannot wait until normal surgery hours. If your call cannot be dealt with over the phone an appointment for you to be seen, either at Brisdoc based at New Court Surgery Locking Road Weston-super-Mare or at home if you are housebound, will be arranged.

Further information can be found on the national NHS 111 website.

You and your general practice (YYGP) has been developed to help patients understand what to expect from their general practice and how they can get the best from their GP team. YYGP also enables patient to provide feedback or raise concerns with their GP Practice, Healthwatch or the integrated care board (ICB). The YYGP document published by NHS England can be found below.
